Focus:
Compassion for ourselves and our bodies and approaching communications from the body with curiosity and neutrality.
Repetition:
I do not have the entire picture of what my body is doing, I only have my perception which is not always correct.
I have immense compassion for what my body is doing with the tools it has been given.
Releasing the Chase
We will begin the deep, gut healing phase of the protocol next week. As we ready ourselves to dive into deeper healing, let us keep in mind that we want to release “chasing symptoms” and we want to invite whole body healing. Keep in mind that we are doing exactly what the body needs, we are offering true nutrition, we are detoxing, we are healing our nervous systems, we are releasing stored trauma, we are returning to nature and we are just getting started!
You will experience difficult communications from the body along the way and that is perfectly normal. There is no need to try to fine tune things at every turn. We do not need to know the reason for every symptom, we simply need to thank the body for being so wise and adjusting things as needed.
It is optimal to support the body with detox, rest, the lovely foods, breathing, resting, being outdoors, laughter, togetherness or small solitude, authentic mindset that is either positive or neutral, reverence, gentle movement and keeping your morning routine and rests throughout the day.
Your Mind Is Mighty Powerful
A friend that is on this journey told me her experience just yesterday. She was wearing her husband’s constant glucose monitor and it had a glitch, reading that she was hypoglycemic. After the reading, her body actually began to present the symptoms. Your mind is mighty powerful so use it to your advantage and not to your disadvantage.
Treat your body as if it were a toddler or young pet. Be encouraging always, it is just learning. The body may be only now, for the first time getting what it needs, so let it use the tools to do what it needs to. Be patient, supportive, encouraging and loving. If your body needs to grieve or wail, allow and invite it.
We often have been sick for a long time, we certainly did not choose to be sick and we may have lost a lot of time, relationships, opportunities and are just learning that we did not know how to be human. Take the time you need to sit with these moments. Forgive yourself for what you did not know, we cannot possibly know what we do not know. Sow those words into your mind to cultivate a healthy garden!
A New Relationship With Our Bodies
This type of restructuring our mindset is not just for women, nor is it feminine. It is a way of unlearning how we have all been taught to view our bodies. We want to be in love with who we are, how our bodies are JUST as they are. We want to accept all situations just as they are. We want to separate ourselves from being in control and trying to change things. Things will change as we release our tight grip.
Focus on awe. Focus on reverence. Every small step you take is a miracle, every virtue you perform in private heals the giant, public world. You are doing massive works and they are very good.
Meal Plan for Deep Gut Healing Phase
A meal plan for our next part of the journey below.
First Meal — 10 AM
- 3 cups meat stock with added animal fat
- 4 egg yolks blended in
- Work your way consistently and slowly up to 1/2 cup animal fat
- Keto egg nog (with ghee if A2 butter is not available) — recipe
(Remember to increase fat slowly, by the same amount per week and giving the body the same amounts of additional fat daily, if you have great difficulty in trying to increase, please add vitamin C daily from a tapioca-sourced supplement and 1,000 to 3,000 mg of taurine until the gallbladder is happy again.)
Second Meal — 2 or 3 PM
(You may choose to switch to 2 for optimal IMF at this time.)
- 3 cups meat stock with 1 cup of ground meat (lamb, beef, pork, turkey, chicken, goat, mutton, etc.) or dark meat close to the bone
- 1/2 cup of animal fat
- 1/4 cup of vegetables from the “On the Menu” list excluding cabbage, Brussels sprouts, collard and the vegetables in our ferments
Pureeing the vegetables in the meat stock for a “creamed” soup is really good! We will only have the juice from ferments for a time and will not eat the vegetables themselves. Herbs are to be cooked and removed, tying with a cotton string can be very helpful. No dried herbs, only fresh.
Soup Ideas
Ground meat can be turkey, chicken, lamb, beef, goat, venison.
- Meatballs in stock seasoned with fresh thyme, with pureed cauliflower
- Chicken soup with Herbes de Provence and a squeeze of lemon
- Chicken soup with mushrooms, onions and garlic
- Meatballs in stock with oregano, onions and garlic
- Chicken soup with fresh dill and a squeeze of lime
- Chicken soup with carrots, garlic and onions (my personal favourite)
- Meatballs in stock with pureed broccoli
- Rachel’s Ribeye Soup — bring meat stock to a quick boil, turn off heat, add in very thinly sliced, room temperature, raw ribeye and mushrooms
Vegetables must be simmered in meat stock, water or steamed for 20 minutes or until very soft. You may have stock on the side and meat and veggies topped with fat and mineral salt. We will only have meat cooked in meat stock at this time. You can use the meat from your stock or you may cook ground meat in meat stock to simmer, meatballs or crumbles are great. We will not have pan-fried or baked foods.
If you desire an after meal treat, have a little sour cream with stevia and a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla. You can still have all herbal teas and 1 to 2 cups of coffee per day. You can begin this part of the protocol next week. I will update you on the next phases as we go along.
Moving Into Medical Ketosis
We are moving into medical ketosis at this time. Being in an ancestral ketosis, meaning not the trendy “keto diet,” is anti-viral, anti-cancer, anti-autoimmune, anti-illness and allows our bodies the opportunity to slow down and regenerate. For example, a state of ketosis will allow the thyroid to not work so hard, the brain to work much cleaner and repair neurological issues and damage, the organs to regenerate, the fascia to improve and so much more!
Traditional societies are in ketosis either all of the year or some of the year, none are in a glucose energy system all year. A healthy person can “pop in and out” of ketosis, a person on a healing journey cannot. We need to stay in ketosis until we are sure we are in remission (no symptoms and amazing sleep for three months) and I would personally stay in at least a year after. We can then safely dip out of ketosis sometimes with no lagging between energy systems.
Keto Mojo is an excellent device for monitoring this part of the journey. If funds are tight, only monitor daily until you are consistently in ketosis, then you can move to every three days for a while, to once a week and then only when curious. We want our glucose at 60 to 90 and our ketones at 2.0, there is no maximum number for ketones. It is ok to take a long time to get into ketosis. Your body will use the ketones to repair on a cellular level before you actually feel the energy from the ketones for yourself.
B Vitamins
You may continue to supplement your B vitamins now, adding them in every few weeks. Please do not take a B complex and add the Bs in individually. If you desire a test to see where your deficiencies lie, please get an intracellular test only such as a SpectraCell test. If we test the blood or serum, we will not have a true reading. You can have an excess of a certain vitamin or mineral and still be deficient in the cell.
B5
Get pantothenic acid and begin with 500 mg per day in the morning, increasing until you reach 1,000 mg for 3 to 6 months and then taper off, using food after.
B6
Usually the cheaper ones are best, we got ours from Whole Foods. Take 50 mg per day for 3 to 6 months only.
If you have neuropathy and NO MERCURY issues, you can add in ALA (alpha lipoic acid) 600 to 1,800 mg per day for 3 months in divided doses. If neuropathy worsens, stop immediately.
In the cases of low hormone function, low immune function, mental illness, compromised neurotransmitter function issues, please consider taking Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P) if needed. Start with 25 mg per day and increase to 100 mg per day, for 3 to 6 months then stop.
B9
Methylfolate, not “folic acid.” Begin with 1 mg and increase slowly to 5 mg. Go slow and steady just as you did with the B1 because you can experience die-off and add in B12 at the same time.
B12
B12 in the form of methylcobalamin only, 500 mcg per day for 6 months to 1 year.
This next phase is going to be fantastic and I am SO happy for you!!
