ARP: Week 7

Focus: Slowing down, softening and being present for the purpose of healing our nervous system.
Repetition: My nervous system is precious. I promise to move slowly. I promise to soften. I promise to practice being present and purposeful.

This week we will explore enemas, if needed. Built-up feces is a source of toxicity to our bodies, so we don’t want them hanging around. If you do not want to do enemas, you can take magnesium citrate to help you poop. The enemas would still be preferred for cleaning out and supporting detoxification, even if you only performed them once weekly. Chronically constipated people would benefit from daily enemas for 4-6 months.

Honey & Fruit

You can have honey and fruit a few times a year on special occasions. Outside of that, these foods are best removed from our diet. When our liver is already having a hard time, fructose is an added burden. Instead, use the fruits as ferments by making kvass.

Castor Oil Packs

If you haven’t already, begin to implement castor oil packs. Start slow and increase: just rub a little castor oil over the liver for about a week, then try an overnight pack.

Place 1/2 T or more over the liver and the gallbladder (steer clear of ovaries if you are pregnant or may be pregnant). I use an unbleached, cotton cheesecloth over my whole tummy area and a hot water bottle on top of that, over my liver. I just accept the fact that I will need new sheets. I fall asleep this way and move the cotton and bottle off the bed at some point in the night. You could also do them for an hour before bed rather than falling asleep with the bottle. This way, most of the oil will have soaked in by the time you go to sleep.

Fats & Ketosis

If possible, purchase a breath or blood ketosis meter so that you can monitor your numbers. It is a good idea to keep a journal. Please note that ketoacidosis does not have its origin in dietary ketosis. Don’t panic if you see a number higher than what is recommended in instructions. Ketoacidosis is not common and mostly in those with diabetes Type 1 (YT video).

Increase your fats as you can. Add raw yolks to stock or add animal fat to stocks. Coconut oil can be added to kefir or hot teas. Have eggnog once or twice daily.

Negativity

Avoid influencers that are emotionally reactive or stir up negative emotions in you (e.g., fear). Take the time to unfollow these accounts. You can receive news and updates about the world and health from those who deliver it in a neutral, peaceful, or joyful way. Do not watch or listen to anything dark (e.g., crime dramas) or that gets you riled up in any way. Choose content that makes you laugh, cry happy tears, or feel good. This is vital for the healing of our nervous system.

The nervous system speaks the language of emotion, and it does not have the awareness to know that it isn’t experiencing the event we are watching.
